Welcome to Compassionate Swaziland website. This site will provide you with the opportunity to understand what Compassionate Swaziland stands for, what we do and where we work. It’s our conviction that this site will give you the opportunity to support our work in whichever way is most convenient to you. We welcome suggestions that could help make our work be of greatest impact for the benefit of the vulnerable children in Swaziland. The Compassionate Swaziland was established in January 2010 through community based volunteer work. However the organization was officially registered in February as an independent national NGO that supports vulnerable children in the Royal Kingdom of Swaziland.
Compassionate Swaziland strongly believes that communities have the capacity to make positive changes to negative situations in their lives. It’s on the basis of this belief that Compassionate Swaziland facilitates community responses to HIV and AIDS through community capacity strengthening and in-depth partnerships to enhance community child and youth support competence.
Compassionate Swaziland recognises and values communities’ un-paralleled knowledge such as a deep understanding of the needs of vulnerable children, the needs of youth and young adults, the needs of the entire society, contexts and the impacts of HIV and AIDS on children, solidarity with potential collaborators, empathy and practical experience-based solutions. On this basis Compassionate Swaziland acknowledges that community wealth of knowledge remains a great resource in designing and implementing development-aligned child support responses.
To this effect, Compassionate Swaziland pledges its commitment to contribute towards mobilising, supporting and improving community capacity, to be able to provide effective child support at all levels. Through this collaboration with communities, Compassionate Swaziland hopes to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and the youth through universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support and to mitigation of the impact of AIDS on communities and its members. Compassionate Swaziland believes this will enhance service delivery through sustainable and comprehensive response to needs of children and the youth in Swaziland.
Currently Compassionate Swaziland works in Lubombo and Shiselweni regions in Swaziland. However we will soon be launching programme activities in Hhohho and Manzini regions. We encourage our collaborators and supporters to continue visiting our site for updates that reflect our activities.
